  • The five spread choices run from a single card to Celtic Cross, so a reader can keep a quick question short or examine a longer spread.
  • The result page gives each drawn card a position, keywords and a brief interpretation before any AI step.
  • The prompt preview is editable and includes the exact cards and orientations from the draw.
  • Copying stays in the browser; the reader chooses whether to send the prompt to an external AI.

Best for

Readers who want a free Tarot draw and card guide, and prefer to interpret their exact spread with an AI assistant they already use.

Overview

About Prefate

Prefate lets you choose a one-, three-, five-, seven- or ten-card spread before drawing from its 78-card deck. The spreads include a five-card cross, seven-card horseshoe and Celtic Cross. After the draw, each card appears with its position, upright or reversed orientation, keywords and a short interpretation. Separate card, spread and beginner guides help you look beyond the first result. The original deck illustrations were made with AI generation and human direction and revision.

The AI step is optional and happens outside Prefate. Select ‘Copy prompt for your AI’ to preview and edit a prompt containing your question, the spread, positions and drawn cards. You can paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or another assistant. Copying the prompt does not send it to an AI service; you decide whether to send it. Prefate’s own paid AI interpretations are currently paused.

Drawing cards and previewing, editing and copying the prompt are free without an account. Your question and drawing state stay in your browser until you reset the reading or clear local storage. An external AI service may have its own account requirements, limits or fees. Prefate is an independent project operated by Bruce Du and is available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French and German.

FAQ

What can I use without signing up?

You can draw cards, view the result, and preview, edit and copy an AI prompt for free without an account.

Does Prefate send my reading to an AI when I copy the prompt?

No. The prompt is prepared in your browser. An AI service receives it only if you paste and send it there yourself.

Does Prefate offer its own AI reading?

Its paid on-site AI interpretations are currently paused. The free tool still prepares a prompt for the AI service you choose, which may have its own limits or fees.
